The parish holiday has taken place annually since 1990 at Scarborough. This is a highly successful event held just after Easter each year which attracts people from birth to ninety and over. Each year old-timers and an encouraging number of newcomers make a pilgrimage to the famous Green Gables Hotel in Scarborough. Most of us travel in our own cars and spare seats are taken by those who don’t drive. A route avoiding the major roads is available and some people meet en route for lunch. The programme is planned to accommodate those who travel by train.

We usually arrive on the Tuesday after Easter with everyone still enjoying the promise of the resurrection ringing in our ears and we take over the whole hotel. A theme for the holiday is chosen by the Parish Holiday Committee and a programme is agreed by them prior to departure for Scarborough. Once we arrive people have name badges so that newcomers soon learn people's names. Guests meet up with old friends and check into their rooms. Before the evening meal we all meet for a short service. During the holiday folk can join in arranged daily worship, outings, evening activities and entertainment and make good use of the hotel swimming pool.
